Last night I went with some friends to see the new Speed Racer movie. I expected it to be absolutely terrible, but maybe so bad that it'd be worth watching anyway. I was wrong. Speed Racer is an -amazing- movie. The plot, although fairly simple, had no holes that I noticed and was, at the very least, good enough to hold the movie together. But this movie is ALL about the visuals. The colors are so bright and vivid that you'll swear you're on acid. At times the movie actually seems "hyper-real," which you'll understand when (not if, when) you go see it. It's gooey sticky delicious sense-overloading eyecandy, in the very best way. But I don't think it would've been all that great if I had seen it alone. Take some friends.

We killed a few hours before the movie at the mall with DDR and random browsing and such. My friend Tyler ended up buying a life-size cardboard cutout of Hannah Montana, which was put to excellent use as an extra passenger (she got to ride shotgun) and later, after getting back to my house, for scaring the hell out of everyone by sneaking her up behind them when they weren't paying attention.
